Technical Details:

Colour Correction and Sharpening:

We do not colour correct or sharpen your files, we simply ask for you to supply print ready files at a sufficient pixels/inch for your chosen size, with 300ppi recommended.

Trim and Bleed:

Please allow for up to a 0.25" / 6mm trim on each side, although we would recommend at least a 15mm safe zone between your images and the page edge.

This is important so that when we trim your book your images are not too close to the edge of the page.

Leaving at least 15mm will also ensure that when you order smaller duplicates of a larger album there will be enough space as everything is reduced when they are resized.

If you wish to bleed images off the page edge, please ensure that those images are placed to the very edge of the page, not just to the trim guide in whichever design software you may use, and do not add any extra space to account for bleed as spreads are always printed at the size ordered before being trimmed down.

File Type and Size:

Send us your double page spread files as high quality flattened 8-bit jpg's sized to match the album ordered, i.e. 24x12" for a 12x12" album.

Colour Profile:

We recommend an embedded profile of sRGB.

Filenames:

Album spreads are printed in sequential order, therefore correct naming of your files is important. We recommend that files are saved with your clients names or order number, followed by a two digit number.

For example:

john_sarah_01.jpg
john_sarah_02.jpg
john_sarah_03.jpg
john_sarah_04.jpg
etc

Also, please only use Alphanumeric characters in your file names, do not use any of the following illegal characters:

! < > * ~ # % & + , : ; ' " { } [ ]

  • Fuji Crystal Archive DPII silver halide colour paper for professional use with a thick paper base, a wide colour gamut and a very high maximum density.
  • Page thickness with standard core page: 0.80mm and with double core page: 1.20mm
  • Black or very dark backgrounds suitable in album design: Yes
  • Design over the crease: Yes, although very slight decolourisation possible.

Velvet
Photographic Paper:

  • Fuji Professional Velvet, a great alternative to fine art paper, this silver halide colour paper has a zero-reflective top layer coating, which creates a stunningly soft and deep-matte effect.
  • Page thickness with standard core page: 0.80mm and with double core page: 1.20mm
  • Black or very dark backgrounds suitable in album design: No
  • Design over the crease: Yes, although decolourisation noticeable under certain lighting conditions.

Smooth White Fine Art Paper:

  • Page thickness with standard core page: 0.80mm and with double core page: 1.20mm
  • Black or very dark backgrounds suitable in album design: No
  • Design over the crease: Not recommended due to possibility of ink separation in crease.

Gallery Cotton Fine Art Paper:

  • A slightly textured 100% cotton rag, acid free and pH neutral paper, with a warmer base.
  • Page thickness with standard core page: 1.00mm and with double core page: 1.40mm
  • Black or very dark backgrounds suitable in album design: No
  • Design over the crease: Not recommended due to possibility of ink separation in crease.

Press Printed Paper:

  • Press paper with a matte satin finish.
  • Paper weight: 170gsm
  • Black or very dark backgrounds suitable in album design: Yes
  • Design over the crease: Not recommended. As these are non lay flat books, with a gutter, we recommend that you do not design too close to the centre.

*Please note that while it is possible, we do not recommend selecting double core pages with albums of more than around 30 spreads / 60 pages. Double core pages are most commonly chosen to make albums with around 10 to 20 spreads for example feel a bit more substantial.

A note on Premium Leather and Vintage Premium Leather:

Due to the organic nature of our Premium Leather, minor surface imperfections and variations in texture may be visible.

Also, from time to time there may be slight variations in colour and overall texture of each of the hides we are supplied with.

Our range of Vintage Premium Leathers are 'distressed' and have been lightly brushed with beeswax to give a matte slightly aged appearance. Featuring some healed scars and marks, meaning no two hides are ever quite the same. In fact no two albums, even from the same hide, will look the same due to the variations in texture and colour across the surface area of every hide.

Therefore leather swatches and any images displayed on our site should be used as a rough guide only.
